Pleased that “Fantasia” (Pastel, 11″ x 14″) was selected to be included in this exhibition in collaboration with the Firehouse Center for the Arts in Newburyport, MA. Like many of my abstract or semi-abstract pieces it is based on observed landscapes that are expanded and transformed into an imaginary world in the process of painting.
These are two pastels, based on a view from the cliffs of Monhegan Island in Maine, which I transformed in various paintings of my “Looking Down” series. Most of the pieces in this series, which encompasses works in pastel, oil, and acrylic, are in private collections, but some are still available. These are my first paintings fresh off the easel this year, framed and ready to go to the New Hampshire Art Association’s “Perfect Pairings” show, which runs February 3 – 28. They can be purchased separately or with a 10% discount as a set.

Here are five new pastels done on location this summer in beautiful Kochel am See and Walchensee near the Bavarian Alps. G. Willikers: Exhibition of Families First’s “2019 Artists of the Seacoast” calendar’s artists, Portsmouth, NH, Jan. 2-31. My painting “Monhegan Island 8” was selected for the month of May. Since the original sold, “Winter Light” (Pastel, 12″ x 16″), which was in the 2014 Artists of the Seacoast calendar, was included in the exhibition. Happy to hear that it just found a new home as well. Now on display and for sale: “Monhegan Surf 3″ (Pastel, 9″ x 12”).

Throughout the month of April the New Hampshire Art Association’s Art-imals exhibit focuses on animals, partnering with Cocheco Valley Humane Society to raise awareness of the importance of adopting animals. “Looking Out” (Pastel, 8″ x 12″) and “At the Edge” (Pastel, ) are two of my paintings in the show.
