Pleased that “Fantasia” (Pastel, 11″ x 14″) was selected to be included in this exhibition in collaboration with the Firehouse Center for the Arts in Newburyport, MA. Like many of my abstract or semi-abstract pieces it is based on observed landscapes that are expanded and transformed into an imaginary world in the process of painting.
These are two pastels, based on a view from the cliffs of Monhegan Island in Maine, which I transformed in various paintings of my “Looking Down” series. Most of the pieces in this series, which encompasses works in pastel, oil, and acrylic, are in private collections, but some are still available. These are my first paintings fresh off the easel this year, framed and ready to go to the New Hampshire Art Association’s “Perfect Pairings” show, which runs February 3 – 28. They can be purchased separately or with a 10% discount as a set.
